I asked the Priest if he could hear my Confession before Mass starts as I had multiple mortal sins on my soul an wanted to receive Holy Communion at Mass.
He said he didn't have time, but you still can receive Holy Communion as long as you go to Confession right after the Mass. I said I am 73-years-old and never heard that before. He said it is in the Catechism, so I received Communion but felt uneasy and was asking different Priest this question to ease my mind.
Should I worry about this thing?

{ Should I worry about the priest's advice on receiving Communion with mortal sin on my soul? }
Eric replied:
Harry,
The priest is not correct. If you know you have mortal sins on your soul, you need to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation before receiving Communion.
1457 . . . Anyone who is aware of having committed a mortal sin must not receive Holy Communion, even if he experiences deep contrition, without having first received sacramental absolution, unless he has a grave reason for receiving Communion and there is no possibility of going to Confession. (cf. Council of Trent (1551): DS 1647; 1661; Code of Canon Law, Canon 916; Corpus Canonum Ecclisarum Orientalium, Canon 711) . . .
(This is not your case, I presume.) A better solution is to refrain from Communion during Mass, go to Confession, then ask the priest to give you Communion.
