Hi, Laura —

Any Bible that has an Imprimatur and Nihil Obstat is fine. The most common English Bible and the one closest to the Lectionary is the New American Bible.

I prefer the Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (RSV-CE) . . . not be confused with the
New Revised Standard.

I recommend the Ignatius Study Bible. It uses the (RSV-CE) translation, has good solid Patristic notes, and will quote Church documents and Councils in the notes as well.

You should also get a Catechism to go along with any Scripture Study.
