The book of Revelation is an apocalyptic book, not a book of prophesy . . . in the strict sense.
It reveals, it doesn't predict and it is allegorical or symbolic, so people keep racking their brains trying to figure it out to no end. There are two other points to know:
- First, much of Revelation has been fulfilled.
- Secondly, it is primarily a Liturgical Book. It reveals the Divine Liturgy in Heaven and Spiritual combat that is achieved in and through it.
The book should not be read like a fundamentalist. The mark of beast on the head, for all we know, could be symbolic language regarding a way of thinking or a way of acting.
