Anna,
It is not prohibited, but it can be problematic to attach yourself to someone who may not be a good candidate for Marriage. Ideally, you want someone that shares your faith so that raising children in the faith is easier and more consistent. To marry a non-believer in the Church they must consent to raise the children Catholic.
Other issues can also arise along moral lines:
- birth control
- euthanasia
- abortion, etc.
Finally, if you do try it, proceed with caution. Don't ignore fundamental issues that could divide you later on. Likewise, missionary dating can be successful, but often is not. A friend of mine came to faith through dating his wife because she was a devout and righteous woman, but I also know stories of heartbreak.
Put God first and He will help you to discern the best course for your life.
Peace,
Bob Kirby
