Hi, guys —

I was interested in reading what you had to say on what would Jesus do. My current assignment is to create a profile of Jesus as if He was living in this millennium.

  • I was just wondering if you had anything to say about what would Jesus do if he was alive today?
  • What issues would he speak about?
  • Who would be his enemies in today's society?
  • What would be His approach on current topics like politics, music, etc.?

Your help would be much appreciated.

Natalie

  { Can you help me with a Jesus profile addressing what He would do if He were alive today? }

Paul replied:

Dear Natalie,

I have an easy answer for you.

When Jesus spoke about His followers, i.e. His Church, He told others

"Whatever you do to the least of my brethren you do to Me." (Matthew 25:40)

When the Resurrected Jesus confronted St. Paul about persecuting His Church He asked him,

"Why are you persecuting Me?" (Acts 9:1-5)

Jesus is alive on earth today in His Extended Body the Church. Therefore, to directly answer your question:

  • Jesus' enemies are the Church's enemies.
  • Jesus would speak out on the issues that the Church speaks out against in His name.
  • Jesus would do what the Church does in His name — which is:
    • offer grace through the sacraments for all who seek salvation
    • teach supernatural and natural truths about God, man, and morality, and
    • live charitably through schools, hospitals, and individuals that live the truth regardless of the personal consequences.

Paul
