I've been a Catholic all my life, and the one question I've always wondered is:

  • If we follow the Bible, then why do all Christians, including us, break this commandment?

We constantly pray to Mary and many other Saints and there are many larger-than-life carved statues of many Saints and Prophets whom we worship, and of course Jesus is celebrated several times a year.

Since he is a "Jealous God", I would have thought that anyone who follows Christianity would have obeyed this commandment.

I've never really understood this.

Actually Joseph, Jesus, Our Incarnate God-Man is worshipped daily. As a way of honoring the saints, the Church has assigned certain days throughout the year as feast days to honor them.
In addition, She has assigned certain days throughout the year that celebrate certain attributes of Our Blessed Lord. Examples are:

  • Solemnity of the Sacred Heart
  • Divine Mercy Sunday
  • Solemnity of Christ the King.
