I know the answer to this, but I am looking for something from Canon Law or the Catholic Church that talks about what we, as Catholics, are supposed to do, in regards to Confession, if there is no priest available. I am trying to respond to someone who asked the following question:

  • If there were no Catholic Church were I live, where I can go to Confession?
  • Would I go to Hell, even if I had faith in Jesus Christ?

The Church teaches that our sins are forgiven by God as soon as we repent, with the hope [and/or] intention to receive the sacrament when available.

A sincere Act of Contrition is all that is needed.
