Hi, guys —

Recently, while watching EWTN, I saw a show for children called Truth in the Heart put on by the Dominican Sisters of Mary. Last week, the Sister was talking about a priest who was having trouble believing in Christ in the Eucharist.

He prayed and during one of his Masses he saw Jesus in the Eucharist. That Eucharist and Wine have been preserved through the centuries and in 1970 a Catholic scientist was allowed to examine a tiny piece of the Bread — which turned out to be heart muscle, and a tiny bit of the Wine — which turned out to be blood, type AB.

This happened in the 1200s or 1300s and I do not remember where in Europe this happened.

I would like to know more. I'm hoping one of you:

  • know of this miracle and can tell me where it happened, or
  • if there is a book written on the miracle.

Thank you for your help in researching this. My priest isn't interested.

Again, thank you.

Karen

Paul replied:

Hi, Karen —

I think you may be talking about the miracle at Lanciano. Here's a web site on it:

Mike replied:

Hi, Karen —

Thanks for the question.

Here are some good books that cover the miracle at Lanciano as well as other Eucharistic miracles:

These two web sites also cover this specific miracle pretty well:

Hope this helps,

Mike
