Hi, Gerard —
Thanks for the question.
Your question falls into the category
of theological opinion so here is
my two cents.
No matter what faith a person adheres
to, when they say:
They feel the Presence of
God.
It could mean one of two
things:
- the Lord is touching their souls
at a critical time in their life
to do (and|or) say something,
or
- the Lord is guiding them at
a confusing moment during the
week to do (and|or) say something
Among Catholics who say this, a majority
of the time, it is in the presence
of the Blessed Sacrament: what we
call the Eucharist, especially at Eucharistic Adoration.
That is why I encourage all non-Catholic
Christians and non-Christians who
know nothing about our faith just
to:
- visit a local Catholic parish
and, if on a Sunday:
- sit in the pew after Mass,
and
- ask God to fill your soul.
- if not on a Sunday, go when people
are there during the weekday,
sit in one of the pews and ask
for His Presence.
Guess what: He will respond and you
will feel His Presence! Really!
Hope this helps,
Mike
