Hi, guys —
How do you live out your Catholic faith
at a public university?

Hi, Tori —
Mass, sacraments, prayer, Scripture,
and seeking truth in your field of
study.

Hi, Tori —
A very important question in our
day. You are 80% there simply by
asking it. Jesus used to call demons
by name to have power over them.
So know:
- your enemy (ultimately the devil)
- his instruments (the ignorance
and willingness of those around
you creating the
anti-Christian subculture)
- his lingo:
- "everybody's
doing it"
- "if you
loved me . . . "
- "don't
be so old fashioned, prudish,
etc."
- the weapons you have been given
for this battle (prayer, the Eucharist,
Confession, good Catholic reading
material, other serious Catholics,
the Rosary and the Scriptures, etc.)
Not to sound too dramatic, but you
are in the midst of a war for your
soul and the battleground environment
of which you speak is largely enemy
territory.
Try to surround yourself with like-minded
people who understand the challenge
and are dedicated to chastity and
against drunkenness. Also be mindful
of the cloud of witnesses St.
Paul speaks of in Scripture (Hebrews
12:1), and the angels and saints
who are on your side.
You can be
faithful to Christ through His Church
if you persevere and remember, when
you are on God's side, you're always
in the majority.
Peace, Fellow soldier —
Paul

Tori,
Many non-Catholic universities have
a Newman
Center, which serves as
a campus ministry for Catholics.
My wife was a non-Catholic at a state
college, but befriended others who
included her in many Catholic ministry
events. She eventually became a Catholic
through her friends and her association
with the Newman Center.
Short of any campus ministry programs,
most would simply attend Mass at
a local parish and hopefully find
others with whom they can share their
faith with.
God bless you,
Bob Kirby
