Hi, guys —

I have two questions.

  1. During the Three days of Darkness, only a blessed beeswax candle will give light (according to some sources).

      — Could a blessed olive oil lamp be used instead?

I have made inquiries and searched around but have not found any answers except one:

      — "I do not know."

  2. The second question has to do with touching someone with a veil to pass on a blessing.

No words were said; the veil just touched people who were attending a Rosary prayer meeting.

This was done by a layperson, not a Priest or Deacon. The veil was from a statue of Our Lady Rosa Mystica that has been shedding oil. I have read various opinions as to a layperson's ability to bless someone, but this was simply a touching of this veil.

Eric replied:

Tim,

  1. No, only a blessed beeswax candle will do.
  2. I would not reckon this as a "blessing" in the sense that the Church uses the term. It's more akin to touching someone with a relic, which lay people can do. If I were you, I would not be concerned about it and would put it out of my mind.

Tim replied:

Eric,

Thank you for your quick response. I just found this site, so I will be back.

Yeah Tim,

I found some additional material you may find helpful:

Thanks, Eric —

I'll check it out. My wife and I have a relic of Blessed Maria Taigi (YouTube) received when we visited her site.

Thanks again for the information.

Tim
